Tendering for Government Projects
This webinar will look into the challenges for designers involved when tendering for government projects.

180 Mins
Dealing with government and statutory authorities in relation to design and building projects has grown increasingly complex over the past 30 years. Designers now face intricate planning and tendering processes, and must have structures, policies, and protocols in place, including QA and policies on Indigenous Employment, Modern Slavery, OH&S, the Environment, and Net Zero Carbon.
To help firms navigate this landscape, Mecca is presenting a webinar that will equip you with the tools to manage the demands of government tendering from various perspectives.
How Do Government Organisations Think and How to Deal with Them?
Gary Hunt FRAIA, principal of Hunt Design, has been involved in resort development for 40 years. He will share strategies for dealing with government agencies and protecting IP, drawing from his Palm Cove project and his interactions with the local Indigenous community.
A Developer’s Perspective
John Lewis FRAIA, an architect/developer with successful projects including the Elizabeth Bay Wharf in Hobart, will discuss his proposal for a retirement living project in Tasmania. Despite offering numerous community benefits, the project was hindered by a rigid planning process. John will outline strategies to mitigate planning risks.
Implementing Your Own QA System
Paul Gallagher RAIA, of GA Studio, will discuss the benefits and challenges of implementing an audited QA system to ISO 9001. He will offer practical suggestions for firms, particularly regarding project documentation and demonstrating compliance with the NCC.
Policy templates
Geoff Hanmer, Arina Architects, will MC the webinar and present practical policy templates that firms can use to meet requirements for policies on Indigenous Employment, Modern Slavery, OH&S, the Environment, and Net Zero Carbon.
The three-hour webinar will provide attendees with 3 CPD points. In NSW, this includes 1 point for National Construction Code and 1 point for Understanding and Respecting Country.
